FROM PASTOR DRESSLER

Grace and Peace to you in Christ!

We are privileged to share together in the blessings of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit! Our God "opens His hand" and provides for our daily needs. Even better, the Divine Word became flesh and lived among us, providing for us eternally by his sacrificial life, death and resurrection. So that these benefits might impact us in the here and now, the Spirit binds our hearts together through Word and Sacrament as one in Jesus Christ, giving us faith to trust our Lord and love to share with one another. For all this we give thanks!

In his letter to the Romans (12:5) St. Paul reminds us that "we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another." Therefore, whether we are alone with the Word of God,  in twos and threes gathered in the name of Christ or in large Divine Service gatherings, we are one in Christ and share in the Body of Christ.

May the Holy Spirit bless the digital resources in these few pages so they are of benefit to you!  And further - consider this my own personal invitation to connect with Christ and your brothers and sisters in Christ here at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd!

Your Servant in Christ,
Pastor David Dressler (pd.lcotgs@gmail.com)

The Church Year

What is the Church Year?

The Church year guides the Church on earth through the life of Jesus. From waiting for His birth to preparing for Him to come again in glory to take us to be with Him in heaven, this calendar guides us with days, weeks, months and seasons. Readings from the Holy Scriptures chosen specifically to match the day or season help to keep the focus on Jesus.
A very special attribute of the Church Year is the use of vibrant colors. You can walk into any liturgical church and know what season or day you are celebrating just by looking to see what color is adorning the worship area.
