What to Expect

What is a Service like?

Our services follow a historical liturgical format. Yet, we have a variety of historical liturgical formats from Traditional, that may have chanting; to a more modern feel with a blend of traditional and contemporary liturgical pieces. CLICK HERE for more information about what goes on during a Divine Service at LCOTGS.

What is the music like?

...address one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart...Ephesians 5:19

We are heirs of an astonishingly rich tradition. Each generation receives from those who went before and, in making that tradition of the Divine Service its own, adds what best may serve in its own day -- the living heritage and something new. - Lutheran Worship © 1982 Concordia Publishing House

With these two thoughts in mind our music is a blend of the best of what has come before and what is best from modern day music. Each Sunday service will have a balance of hymns and spiritual (contemporary) songs, so that those gathered; can address each other, and praise God with singing.

How people dress?

There is no set "dress code" at LCOTGS. There are some who dress up for church and there are those that dress casually.

What about my kids?

We worship as a family. Parents and children are encouraged to attend the Divine Service as a unit. There is a room available for parents of small children, for whatever their child may need during a Divine Service. Prior to our Divine Service during September to May we have our Education Hour where families are encouraged to come and spend time learning, there is a program for everyone from preschool - Adult.

Can I take Communion?

1 Corinthians 11 leads us to the Responsible Communion position for those who confess that Jesus Christ is present in the Sacrament for the forgiveness of sins. Those baptized Christians who confess their sin, desire forgiveness and believe that Jesus Christ is bodily present in the bread and the wine for their forgiveness can receive Communion.

Jesus said..."Take, eat; this is My body...Drink of it all of you, for this is My blood of the covenant...Matthew 26:26-28

Everyone who is not prepared for Communion of any age are welcome to come forward for a blessing.

How can I get Connected?

Come on a Sunday morning and introduce yourself to our Pastor.

We have Connection Cards in each and every one of our pews, fill one out and give it to our Pastor when you introduce yourself and we will get you connected to LCOTGS.
